Thanks - got my Canon S3 IS working pretty well now I feel.
I like the tank dimensions, while I love looking at tall tanks (mine is only 24"s high), I hate cleaning them, and at the same time hate seeing the bottom 2" dirty

Thanks, tt is pretty cool actually - and growing nicely now that I have had it 4 months or so. As close as I have seen to a good Lime in the Sky look-a-like.

Hey 250G nice aquarium man!

I saw you were using a hospital pump with your kalk reactor. I have one similar. Could you explain to me how yours is set up I cant figure out how to make mine work. Does yours actually pump water or is it gravity fed? Is it on the inlet side or the outlet side? If you could draw up a quick diagram that would be great (I am a visual learner). Thanx man!

Thanks - pretty happy with the tank these days.

Not sure when I will have that diagram available, but let me try and illustrate it with words - should be pretty simple. Also, FYI, I do not use the kalc reactor any more, my alk kept getting to high.

The dosing pump sits on the table and pulls water up from a resivoir. The water enters the inlet of the kalk reactor, and exits through the outlet and into my sump.

This is not a pressurized system as the doing pump does not apply significant pressure to the resivoir (only the deltec is pressure rated to my knowledge). If I hooked this kalc reactor up to RODI unit water would be on the floor.

I see some people use auto top-off with kalc, but whenever you remove some water from the tank you get all kalk water which scares me. I prefer a slightly depressed pH for the tank while running my CA reactor a little faster to keep up with demands.

Okay thanx I think I understand. So you just had your dosing pump set to match the amount ecaporated water. I have a hospital pump similar to that I didnt think they could pump water up.

Actually I have a separate auto top-system with a float switch and celenoid hooked up directly to my sump.

The kalc dosing was in addition to this, representing only a small percentage of my make-up water.

Just adding these pics of my few fish to the thread - not SPS but they now live in my SPS tank.

So far they are a model SPS aquarium fish. No nipping, although they do get a little fired up at meal time and tend to frag the odd coral. Very social fish, and regularly swims in the open water portions of the tank,

I am not sure how much to feed them however, the male is looking great, but visually appears to be on the skinny side now (well at least today). I can only really feed them 1x a day.

No negative effects on the SPS affter 2 weeks of adding prepared food to my tank (mysis for my acans, prawns for the triggers).

Any experience keeping/feeding triggers in an SPS tank out there?

250G, where do you get your coral? I never see any with those colors for sale except the odd time at ORG. I am in the GTA as well so I'd be curious as to where you buy...if you don't mind me asking.

Lunchbucket - Thanks! Pretty happy with the tank these days. Leaving good enough alone seems to be workin' IMO.

invincible569 - I will work on getting another full tank shot. Always tough without a proper lens though (I have a point and shoot ultrazoom). I will try an post some updated shots in the next little while as even I have noticed the tank has relly started to fill in.

bubbletip2 - Thanks again. If you read my write-up (by clicking on the little red house above) you can see my methodology is pretty simple.

THP - ORG is a great store (I live 10 minutes from them), as is ReefRaft and Where's the Reef. The majority of my SPS corals were bought at ReefRaft.

Now that I have been feeding my triggers frozen prawns for 3 weeks+, and have also been feeding my acans frozen mysis, I have noticed I am starting to lose the traditional pastel colours in my tank. I am enjoying the deeper colours though, specially in my red stag (well it is starting to look red again).
