As far as I the original fish was an Onyx with Jigsaw pattern with extra white borders. Through selective breeding they have been putting out these Picassos. These are Perculas while the Snowflakes are Ocellaris.

Anyone chime in if I am wrong.

The original pair was basically a WC Perc that resembled the so called Onyx percs that are sometimes available and another was a WC Perc with a very unique misbar stiping pattern and a square on its cheek but I don't know if I would say it was an onyx as well. There are several photos of it on RC. Here is one that is on reefermadness website which is in their hall of fame. http://www.reefermadness.us/MontyHOFImages/RMHOF_Percula_emperor.jpg

I am very curious to know the true background on the original ORA Picasso because reefermadness.us claims they had it along with AquaticDesignz and I have always been led to believe that this is the original ORA Picasso.

I would say that my male is an Onyx because the black covers about 80% of his body. The female is just a True Perc that was purchased with him as a pair. They started breeding for me about 7 months after purchase.

Isn't this the pair?

Hu,

I would think that it would have only cost them a few Bens....maybe 300 just my thought... Someone try to find out for us.

That clown was imported to one of the local Los Angeles wholesalers and was purchased by AquaMarines(Dennis Reynolds is the man!) who in turn sold it to ORA, we just had to snap a photo of the fish because it was so cool and unusual.
Hope that clears up who got it.

You would be surprised how cheap wild caught misbarred clowns go for. Granted none of them are as uniquely marked as the one show above but I would be surprised if that fish originally sold for $100 retail or less when it first was collected. There was a thread on here recently where someone just bought a WC perc. with some very nice misbar markings and only paid $40 for it which is usually the going rate for standard WC percs.

Will the offspring of these Piccasso's look like the parents?

Thanks

Its a mixed bag with what markings you're going to get. I have yet to see one that even comes close to the original WC Picasso. Some do not develop the thick "onyx" like black filling between the white lines, some have more elaborate white markings than others and very few have the white diamond mark on the face.
