I decided to devote some photo attention towards my seahorse tank. Here are some of the results:

My primary source of motivation...he finally emerged from the rocks!

More to come...stay tuned. :)

what is the name of your "primary source of motivation"??? i would love to have one of those in my tank.

He's a porcelain crab, Petrolisthes sp. They are found in a variety of colors; another one of mine is blue, but all of them are very cool. :) The remainding pics are below...

Have a good one!

I was wondering when the seahorse pics were coming...:p
Looking good Kayla. Were you taking the close up shots with a flash?

Excellent photography Kayla! Everyone in that tank is quite the stunner!

Your little mandarin is so fat he looks like he's going to burst! *off to feed my mandarin more*

My little guy is so picky, he only enjoys frozen mysis that has been frozen/defrosted less than 2 times, after that it isn't fresh enough.

Thanks again, everyone!

For the most part, yes. I prefer to not use a flash, but often the shot turns out too grainy and lacks detail (at least in the case of my camera), especially with the smaller subjects.

Wow, that is picky - even for a mandarin! I have a pair in that tank; the darker one (with a less green color) is the male, and the lighter green is the female. Thankfully, both enjoy just about any type of mysis, and the size of the shrimp doesn't seem to matter either.

Give your little guy some time - he should grow out of his picky behavior eventually. Until then, sounds like you're doing an excellent job spoiling him. :D

Great shots and subjects, Kayla.

Glad to see your crab emerge for a photo op.. :D I think I have the same one in my 75g tank but I rarely see him during day time.
For a while I thought I killed him with the Interceptor but I was wrong, this fella survived four treatments and when I saw him at night I was a very happy camper. :)

Thanks again for the input, everyone!

mandarin's rock, i love the little spotted guys like your's too. I've got a green mandarin myself.
I agree! Here's my S. splendidus:

Thankfully, all of mine devour frozen Mysis (only the Hikari brand, though), so feeding has never been an issue. It's funny to see a mandarin running around with a chunk of shrimp hanging from its tiny mouth! :D

Thanks, Gene! I'm happy to hear your porcelain survived the Interceptor treatment as well; this guy has made it through two rounds, and my pom pom crabs (now there's another challenging critter to photograph!) both also survived the nuking. Now they are in a tank that is SPS-free, so hopefully that won't be an issue anymore!

Have a good one. :)

Thanks again, everyone!

Due to a variety of reasons, I am looking for another home for the seahorses, but all the other critters in the tank will remain. Although I can't say this is my preferential decision, it is most favorable for the horses, and their well-being gets first priority in my book.

kayla, would you mind elaborating on why you are moving the horses?

Their tankmates all appear to be peaceful varities and the tank is plenty big!
