Pics-new 500 gal Miracles tank-are these seals gonna leak?

Got multiple weird looking patterns in the seals of my new Miracles Aquarium tank.
Is this bad?
Can they be fixed by injecting silicone or something using a hypodermic needle from the outside of the tank?

I don't think they will leak, but I wouldn't be happy with them.

Have you talked to Derek about this?

I definitely wouldn't be happy with the look of the seems. I'm not sure if anyone could guarantee that they will not leak. I'm assuming they looked this way prior to filling.

Just curious what are the dimensions of the tank, and the thickness of the glass?

The cabinetry looks beautiful though.

I have a Miralcels tank and the seams look similar..Derek assured me they would not leak and so far so good....I had heard that Miralces tanks are the best in the business but after receiving my tank, I beg to differ. I am disappointed in the tank because of the silicone work ( although my seams dont look as bad as yours ). I cannot recommend Miralces for a tank build...A friend used Aqaurium Obsessed, although it took 5 months to get his tank, it looks much better than my Miracles tank! If I do another tank, it will NOT be with Miracles.

I say it will leak those were how mines looked and it was installed for two months then just started leaking 3days ago

Ya that is an accident waiting to happen in my opinion. I have seen seals like that (with air bubbles trapped) on a 125. It started leaking only 2 months after being installed. Your looks worse. Also the one pic appears to be just air trapped. The other pic looks as if it already has water channeling through the gaps. I would call them asap and get confirmation from them. If they say its fine I would record the name, date, and time you talked to someone. That way it is in your records if necessary. Also, as far as those round spacer discs are concerned, I don believe that is whats in there. If it is it shouldnt be. Those should be removed prior to sealing that spot. I def wouldnt add anymore water. Thats 500gallons * 8 punds a gallon. You have darn near 4000 pounds of water pushing out on those seems. Good luck man, let us know how it turns out. If I were you and they offer a replacement I would ask that they incur the charge of having a local tank service company do the swap out. There is no reason a tank should leave their shop regardless of if it will leak or not. When someone spends the kind of money you have obviously spent here (amazing woodwork btw), you have the right to expect perfection. Functional and cosmetic perfection both.

Correction:

I witnessed a 135 gallon build that used round spacers to keep panes of glass seperated while silicone bead was put down. On this tank spacers were removed and gap was siliconed. I just learned on large tanks these are left in due to weight of glass. Actually its a different type of spacer in diameter anyhow. Also I posted in both your threads. I didnt realized you posted in two forums....I was looking at this one and didnt see my reply...I though maybe my reply didnt post last night....either way good luck man and keep us posted.

Boy thats an ugly set-up.
You should bring it out to so-cal and I'll figure out what to do with it.

What was the outcome of you tank situation? Does it leak? Would you recommend Miracles to build a tank again?

Thx............

looks like glass shims to make sure enough silicone got in between the glass panes to be structurally sound. once they silicone the tank... there is no way to get them out. I assure you it is NOT an accident waiting to happen.

they are glass shims used for that purpose. and they do leave them in on purpose. there is a large build going on now in this forum and they make use of the shims and she told me they were instructed to leave them in

BradR,

I have the same problem with the seals but a much smaller tank 36" 18" 20" & also 1/2" thick glass. However, I am also worried about the air trapped inside & the possibility of leaking. I would not recommend Miracles to anyone. I actually just emailed Derek today regarding above (will speak to him tomorrow). Really I want a new tank done the right way. I also have a problem with a overflow cover that doesnt fit. Will keep you informed here as well.

That is a beautiful tank setup with the custom stand and wood work. BUT the aquascaping doesn't look good, way too much live rock. Less is more when it comes to LR! Thats just my 2 cents.

Btw, I wouldn't trust those seals!
