They generally come in healthy enough. Those who get over the fact that they were stuffed in a box and made airborne, do well. It is during the first 48 hours that losses occur. Then feeding them 6-8 times a day untill they put on some weight, and 3-4 times a day afterwards. I have had 100% survival and 10% survival rates with different batches.

I dunno... I mean, outside of Matt's non-photosynthetic system, I haven't seen a lot of long term success (though some - my friend had a couple, one even turned male after a while), so I don't think it's as easy as feeding X times a day (which I must add, when life happens, isn't always easy for YEARS of care, it can get exhausting, trust me, I know!). How many of yours in that pic are alive? For how long? Why have you been through "batches" of them? Every time I've seen them at the wholesalers they are extremely fat and healthy... I've heard this is because they are very shallow water and easy to catch species... hence the super cheap price too.

For an average hobbyist asking about anthias, I'd highly recommend lyretails, ignitus, and dispar.

Great pics as always Brad! Do the lori and flavoguttatus get along ok? I've read the flavos are mean....

Actually the Lori's are the aggressive ones. At least the large male is. The flavoguttatus are on the timid side. I got a trio of Central pacific anthias last week from PIA and they are just starting to feel comfortable in their new home. I haven't been able to get a good picture yet. But anyday now.

Feed them often, 3-5 times a day with Hikari mysis and other frozen food.
Mine are eating spectrum pellets also.

I have 5 total. All of them are little pigs.
