They live in the same burrow.
Someone told me if they do that they are male and female.
The smaller of the 2 has no interest in building her own burrow.

Pics were taken with a 100mm lens on my sony DSLR A-200

They are in the middle of the tank. The display is 3 feet front to back. They are under one of the rocks in the center. Dispite the fact that there are lots of fish around them, they still come out regularly.

One question, How deep is the sand in your display? I've heard they need at least 5" of sand. They would be an awesome addition to my fish wish list.

The sand in that area is about 3.5- 4".. The rest of the tank goes from 0 in the front to about 5 inches from a drift that momma clown (Gold Striped Maroon) fish keeps making.. (evil fish)... LOL...

The sand was about 2" where they started to dig, but then he keeps adding sand around the burrow. Its noticeable higher around his burrow than in the rest of the tank. LOL...

BTW... He is not burrowing straight down. His burrow goes under the rock. I give him small pieces of rubble daily (about 1/4 size of a dime). He builds everyday reinforcing his tunnel under and around the rock. Its really cool to watch.

They look great! did you get them from divers den?

No actually my LFS. They just got them in and were having a sale on them. These were the last 2... .

Thanks for the info, I'm going to have to get a pair for my setup. Do you have any gobbies? I was wondering how they would get along.

I have a yellow clown goby. He doesnt bother the jawfish and the jawfish dont mess with him. The goby actually sleeps in the gorgonian next the jawfish burrow.

Very nice. I had a mated pair a few years ago. They spawned on a few occassons. The male will hold the egg cluster in his mouth and the pair will be very reclusive. Never had any fry sadly, but great fish to have. Good luck with them.
