pics of my tank--dial up beware!!

I figured I would show you guys/gals my tank. I do not believe anyone from here has seen it. It is really difficult to get pics because there are no viewable sides and the glare from the reflector really shows up in pics.
I was able to borrow a camera for the afternoon for my work so here are the pics.

The tank is an all black acrylic 3/4in 36x36x10in deep from inside measurements. Everything is all black and is lit by a 400w SE MH lumenarc with no actinic lighting. It is really hard to capture the color with a camera in a top down view tank VS a see through one

This tank has been up for about 6-7 months but most of the stuff inside came from my older tanks and some have been grown from very small frags 2-4 years. I use to have alot more ricordia than at the present time but a cold snap with a broken heater did about 50 polyps in.

I got the idea for a top down view tank from a Manager at a LFS-so I sold my other tanks and did this one.

The big A$$ clam is a buddies, I am holding onto it until his tank gets back up and running. It is pretty close to 18in.
Before I took his clam there was a mini mountain of very high light zoos. The hill was about the same size as the clam but went higher and quite a few colonies were less than 1/2 in under the water surface of a 400w and loving it. Those have been in my QT for the past few months and will come back once is MONSTER is back in his tank. Although I think he likes my tank better!!

cool pink with green mouth-these grow crazy fast! started out 3 years ago with 14 now well over 120

One of my favorite of all. These polyps get well over 2-3 inches in diameter and are crazy green. They grow very very slow and I have never seen another morph like these-similar, not as big or bright. This colony started out 12 polyps 2 years ago. You can tell the size by the pink protopalys in the rear

Well you get the idea- I like zoos and shrooms. It would be very tough to take a pic of every morph that I have in the little time that I had the camera but I hope it was worth a peek.

It is hard to capture in a picture because the light diffuses through the water so the pics are not what they appear and in real life much more vibrant.
I do not miss the old type tank-fish are more calm and it is more like looking down on a reef VS through-more like if you were there in the wild looking down. The fish really respond well. Thanks and happy reefing

Awesome tank!!! That is one big clam too. Love the fire and Ice zoas, heck its all good. My wife loves Ricordias, can't ever find good colors around here though. Thanks for sharing your tank pics!!

Still healing. Doc said I had to wear the sling for six weeks, I started passive rehab a couple of weeks ago on it. Go back to the Doc on the 15th, should take my sling away and put me in real therapy.
Tank is doing well. I just started making Randy's two part additive mix. I am having to add 8 cups alk and 12 calcium to keep uo right now. Must hook up a reactor!!

Minnowbowmatt-this tank has been up for about6-7 months. Before that everything started out years ago in a 75gl Uniquarium, then a 90, then a 140ish tank. Moving the rocks from the last setup was a PITA because most had grown into each other. There was some splitting and tearing but most stayed intact. It was also difficult to get the best placement going from a tank that was 26??inches deep to one that is as shallow as this one. All in all everything likes the high light.

I mean no disrespect, but DUDE, that is a spectacular display. My weakness is a well aquascaped tank that looks natural with a variety of zoas and palys alike, and that tank made me weak my friend, LOL. A top down display is extremely unique and the colors seem to blend naturally. It's also good to see zoas again as well as matured colonies. Two thumbs up again Boss.

What K are your bulb?

What name brand is your bulb?

Have you noticed any rics detaching, fading or bleaching with your 400 watt bulb?

Could you share the A to Z details for us, para, additives etc.

With a top down display, I can certainly understand why you went with black acrylic on the sides. It seems to keep the focus on the coral display and the aquascaping as well as reflecting light back into the tank. Am I guessing correctly?

It would make a cool coffee table. Very unique, I would like it once I got used to it. Im allways climbing up on a chair and looking down into mine to see how everything "really" looks. My hood, back glass and over flow is Black Acrylic.
