Pics of RBTA split~

This past week my rbta had been extending its foot onto a nearby rock, and yesterday it was all stringy. Its color was good, so I suspected it was about to split, and lo and behold it began stretching and tearing itself apart last evening. I did not induce it to split, though I am rather glad it did, for it was getting quite large--and my fish are appreciating the extra swimming room.

Anyway, here is a FTS to illustrate how big it was:

A picture of it a couple days before the split:

And now it's stretched itself so much that its foot is already on the other rock and you can see rock beyond its mouth:

A couple close-ups of the mouth:

My maroon fish was helping it along; nipping at it and biting off small chunks of flesh that were hanging loose:

Nearly finished splitting:

Hanging on by a thread...(right after taking this pic, the maroon bit the remaining connection and separated the two.)

And my tank as of this morning:

(I moved the new anemone with its rock away so that it wouldn't be tempted to attach onto a big rock.)

Thanks for looking!

Beautiful nem and pics! Mine split a couple of weeks ago, but it decided to do it at nighttime and the pics were too blurry to post. I like how your maroon helped hehe

Thanks! Yeah, I was pretty fortunate it happened while I was home--and with the lights on. Now I just gotta decide which one I'm keeping; the maroon is currently hosting both! LoL.

lol.. well, if I were to keep them both, I'd have to do some more rearranging(of my frags). Mine was a split from a friend's anemone, and he said he'd had his for only a month or two before it split--twice! I've only had mine for a couple months and then it split of its own accord... So if this cycle keeps up, I'll have another split in a couple months, lol.

Yeah, just pm me when you move to the states and I'll hook you up, lol. ;p

i have the same color morph BTA and it split a couple month after i got it and it was a split from one that has been in captivity for 7 years and could split again anytime....

Sweet.

And not so sweet--my new split moved behind a rock. T_T When I turned on the lights this morning, though, it looked like it might stretch itself back through the gap and back into view. *cross your fingers for me!*
