Pics of what those who are lucky to have a clarion will look as an adult.

Some of us are lucky enough to have these amazing angels and many people have just become new owners of a clarion. I have never thought of an adult clarion as a spectacular angel but these pics changed my mind quickly. Look at these bruisers. T

I'm sure they can be. The adults are one of the only angelfish that shoal together. Also, I think it was ************ (there site is being worked on now so I can't access it) who recently showed a video of clarions and said that the adults didn't harass each other in the wholesalers tanks.

Wowie kazowie. I never cared much for the adults, but these pictures have changed my mind. Clarion adults, males at least, do not lose their beauty.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I would pass based on the posted pics. I often times wonder if people would find these fish as appealing if they were not considered rare. Now, if they kept their bright orange juvenile coloration as an adult, I wouldn't hesitate to add one to my tank.

Wow, I never thought I would hear someone say these fish are visually unappealing. I am a steadfast believer in "to each, their own". The vivd orange DOES tay with the adults over the midriff and tail, with the vivd blue edging, and mossy green. Man, they are just electric. Mine is really the only fambuoyant colored fish in my tank, more or less.

I may be trying to pair mine up soon, but I want the right size...and the big tank has to be up first.

IMHO the contrast of the green face and the bright orange body is UNREAL! Pictures do not do these fish justice. In person they vertually glow. The blue on the edge of the fins and inside the body is striking...

Yeah I was just going to comment to on the color. I think people see pics and they think wow the orange of blue of the juvis, but find me a fish that packs more color. Even as adults there is no orange fish out there that competes. (if I am proven wrong great :) ) It doesn't need to have the mossy green or the dark back half the orange alone will make it the star fish forever because it will always stand out in a tank full or blues and reds and yellows and blacks. Also blue outlining can never really be captured in pics the way it glows on fish.

There is a video of a Japanese tank with a male clarion in it with a bunch of other rare fish and it stands out. I can't find the link right now but if I do I'll post it.

Most have never seen them in person..........pictures do them no justice...
the blue edging is ridicilous......candy basslet blue ridicilous!

Fish attractiveness has nothing to do with pricing nor vice versa. If flame angels were 1200 dollars, people would be gushing about how stunning they were :P

They are colonial, social spawners.
They don't pair up like Queens and blues.
They mob in columns...then suddenly two will break out of the pack...do the shimmy together and then re-join the column.
100 lot schools are not uncommon.

So, since pairing them doesn't work, would be breeders need to think in terms of buying say a dozen.
I imagine only public aquariums could do this right...I mean with giant tanks and room to roam for a school of them.
