i have a 6 gal pico and having probs with my diy overflow and fuge (cant post pics yet)
ive built a closed loop that sits under rock which is powered by a mj900 and sits in my return section also sits a 600 mini jet for flow in tank when i turn power on all runs well but the level of water in there drops quickly and the pumps run out of water ive tryed topping up but the water in the tank rises instead??

my overflow is a 21.5mm bulkhead flows into a section with liverock under into the refugium then over into the return were the 2 pumps are ...

any help and pics of your diy a must ... thanks in advance xx

would making the overflow bigger make a difference? seems to be flowing in to the main tank and struggling to keep the return full

It's kinda hard to visualize your design Where is the constriction in the system ?


Your overflow and/or baffles can't return water as fast as the pumps are moving water out of the overflow. You can try moving the minijet out of the overflow and see if it can keep up with the 900.
