I took a bunch of pictures of Ryan's system yesterday and wanted to share them:

Unique markings on this convict!

Feeding time!

Not all of the top-down shots turned out, but here are a few to show how great things are doing:

Went back and forth on that with evolved. He can shed more light on it than I can but because they just started importing from Mauritius less than a year ago and because it has 6-bars vs. 9-bars, it can't be Acanthurus polyzona.

I looked at a bunch of pictures of the Hawaiian endemic convict tangs and found a few pictures where a convict had those markings but it was very few and far between (see, e.g., HERE). Cool fish and I wish my convicts had those markings! :)

That pretty much sums it up. It's 6 bars so it's A. triostegus (Hawaiian convict).

Thanks for the comments guys and gals. The hawk fish has been well behaved since I put him in 2 months ago. We shall see long term. I think the key is to have your inverts in first and get a small hawk if possible. HI TIFF!!!!

Thanks for the complements on the pics everyone. Lots of healthy subjects in Ryan's tank to choose from!

Sorry we didn't get a FTS -- it was midday and there was just too much glare for a FTS. We'll need to get one though.

Wow Ryan, tank has really come around!...what do you think put it on this current track?

And, totally agree with the amount of daytime glare...FTS will only be achievable at night, and by blocking out the windows... Or shoot behind a large black curtain.
