Pictures galore

Great looking tank (although I'm not a fan of BB) and great pics.

Two questions for you:

1) I thought Regals were not reef safe. How does yours do w/ your corals?
2) What camera and settings were used to get such nice sharp close up pics of your corals? I can never manage close up macro pics.

Thanks

Thanks and no problem, not a lot of people are fans of BB, but then not a lot of people can have the flow that I have either:D

Your questions:
1) hasn't nipped anything yet, but who knows one day he might turn out to be a coral eater, but so far he eats tons of mysis and angel food and algae.

2)Using a Cannon Digital Rebel XTI with 100mm macro lens and using manual focus and "no flash" setting. I use a tripod and remote triggering device for taking pictures which helps a TON.

here is the exif from one of the photos
Make: Canon
Model: Canon EOS DIGITAL REBEL XTi
Size: 3888x2592
Bytes: 5134441
Aperture: f/3.5
ISO: 400
Focal Length: 100mm (guess: 106mm in 35mm)
Exposure Time: 0.008s (1/125)
Flash: Flash did not fire, compulsory flash mode

hope that helps

What you have fish, its like looking for Waldo very nice setup ,but I have a question about the 4 power heads what kind are they and if they are set on timers.

VIN - he has tunzes it seems and probably uses 7095 multicontroller.

MAKOJ - I use 3 tunze 6100's and a 7095 multicontroller myself and have about 55x flow. I'm wondering what you have and if you've ever had issues tearing the skin off of corals. I'd love to have a regal in my tank, but knowing my luck it'll probably eat everything.

Curious why you do not use ISO 100. With a 3.5 f, I can't imagine it not being quick enough to take some nice shots. I usually do f/3.2, ISO 100. Still nice pictures though.

I use 6 tunze streams:
-6200 and 3- 6100's on a mulitcontroller
-6100 and a 6080
as well as a sequence dart return pump

I have the saltwater washing machine:D and none of the streams are too close to the coral so I haven't lost any flesh on any acros.

I do when I shoot in manual mode, but those settings are done automaticly by the camera in "no flash" mode.

That's a lot of movement in a 120 gallon. Definitely is a saltwater washing machine :D With that much flow, you can't do anything but go BB.

makoj - one of my fav tanks of all time. you have some VERY nice stuff!! so when are you sending those coral frags that you trimmed off to me??? :D

nice tank! you just need to get the coraline off the back glass, I think it will make your tank pop more.

I try it just too hard to get back there with my canopy.

On my next tank I will have more access to the back for sure:D

I don't think so, this coral has been around for a while and I think orignially named by Tub's himself. I know the mother colony died a while back. All I know is it was called Pink Jade:D
