Pictures of Bomber's barebottom SPS tank and related equipment

Since there is a gap between the starboard and the glass, the snail poops tend to settle down between those gap. Unfortunately, the gap is pretty small and I have problem inserting my siphon tube all the way to siphon it out. Any issues with it fouling the water? If it is not a big issue, I am not going to bother too much about it.

Either use a powerhead to blow it out, or use rigid tubing to reach that spot and siphon it out.

I suggested taking a thin bead of silicon around the outside edges to this before the tanks were setup in a glass tank that is.. keeps the board down and easier to get internal flow to kepp that stuff in suspension

YES LOL

but you can use the cheaper 1/4" board for that ;)

Oh and the different colors one can obtain.:eek2: Don`t stop with just one, create a rainbow of colors!

Hey Bomber, doesn't your system ever run low on Mg? I remember you mentioned you only dose Sr and we all know how vigilat you are about water changes :D
Just wondering...

I don't store a lot of organics/detritus in this system that would drive Mg consumption. So it takes a long time for Mg to drop.

So no, I don't worry about it. :)

You also don't let coralline build up everywhere. I would think that the constant consumption by Doug would recycle Mg to some extent.

Well, color me a convert. I just spend all day reading this from the first page. Interesting debates to say the least but it all make sense. Now all I have to do is figure out what to use the refugium in my custom build sump for instead of sinking detritous!

well, you could still use it to "sink detritus." Put in some eggcrate or some vertical pieces of acrylic, spaced off the bottom, and turn it into a settling filter. Easy way to catch and remove detritus!

Maybe tomorrow guys. I just got done with a 6 hour drive and I'm not much in the mood to mess with pictures. I don't even know if any of them came out yet anyway. :p

and it's not the way I want it yet either.

Chris over at Mote Marine Lab setup a tank for display that I loved, I'm trying to recreate that look. So far all I've accomplished is moving a bunch of things around.
