Pier fishing

I was wondering how many of you do pier fishing? Im interested in getting back in to do weekday or weekend nights at HB pier.

I go to Balboa Pier in Newport every once in a while.

i used to go alot. went around to huntington and newport alot until i realized that my girl was catching most of the fish although i was the one rigging everything up.

Agreed. Shore fishing is much more fun IMHO. I much prefer catching Surf pearch to Mackerel / Skates / Baby fish (Tons of baby bass / sculpin life off the pier)

I might be going to belmont pier I hear that is where the action is at for bat and leopards. anyone interested in going this sat night or next sat night?

Dude I have the same dang problem!!! How is a guy suppose to catch anything if he's spending all his time doing all the dirty work. I didn't realize this until our last fishing trip and I didn't catch a single fish for three days!! I was spending all my time removing stuck hook, rebaiting, repairing, switching out to diff rig for 4 pools

I'd like to try fishing once.. but just ONCE. I don't understand how those people can sit on a bench all day staring at the water for hours. When I throw the hook, something better bite it in less than 2 minutes or I'm leaving. I get bored easily.

I use to go to the Newport pier years ago, at least 30. The trips were usually unplanned and I just get bored of sitting home at night. I''d head out around 11pm and fish until 4am or so and head back home beating the traffic.

I really wasn't about the fishing it was just someplace to go and relax.
