pilot shrimp - good or bad?

Ours is gettin' bigger & LOUDER - we call it mr. snappy-claws...Is there any possibility of the snapping to cause any kind of damage to anything including the glass?

Any info or links to info would be greatly appreciated!!

mantis or pistol or something else??
if its a mantis some can get real big and theres definatly been cases of them smashing glass. Not to sure weather a pistol could.

I'm sure you mean pistol shrimp. The snapping can't hurt anything. The shrimp sometime steal food from other animals/corals.

Is there any chance of getting a photograph then hopefully we can at least get a positive identification of the animal for you. There are so many names that go round for different animals especially in this hobby its any wonder we ever know what the others describing. Or you could just try doing a search on google images for pistol shrimp or mantis shrimp and see if they resemble mr. snappy-claws
