Pink birdsnest

I have been keeping sps for three years but been into marines for 18 years.
I have had great success with sps. Good growth and my PE is off the wall.
Maintain solid parameters and run little higher nutrience than I should.
Problem is, if I try go lower nutrience I totaly loose pink birdsnest.... STN even if I bring it down real slow.
Question is, does birdsnest like the high nutrience or am I missing something.
Water changes are about 20% weekly with prefiltered NSW. I also use activated carbon to prefilter. Could I be removing important elements?

Mine is doing well with low nutrients. I feed artemia nauplii several times per week with amino acids as well. I also maintain my potassium and strontium. Its anecdotal, but I do believe the trace elements helps with the color. Also, its in STRONG lighting. Its grown to within a few inches of the water surface, with a 400W HQI about 12 inches above the surface. Pink as can possibly be.

I have same problem, when i started to change water regularly and added carbon at the same time. It started to loose pink color.
