My clowns just finished spawning for the third time. They have been on a regular cycle since the first spawn and lay about 5 days after a hatch. The clowns are being hosted by two heteractis magnificas. This is the first time the male has actively participated in site preparation and fanning the eggs. The other two spawns he showed up to fertilize and defended the anemone, but didn't do anything else. The few dead eggs had sat around for days. This time he seems to have the hang of it.
Another interesting point is that during the spawn they were very aggressive towards the anemone. They bit and moved any tentacle which got close to the new eggs. An hour after the spawn they didn't mind the tentacles touching the eggs. In the past I have observed my Ocellaris pair grab tentacles and spit them at the eggs possibly to make sure that some sort of host information was conveyed to the fry.
