pinwheel impellars for octopus pumps

so far so good, water flow is slower, i'm guessing needle wheel pulls more water. Pinwheel on other hand chops air alot better and i have a more constant head of foam, so i am liking pinwheel better so far everything is looking good i was hoping for drastic improvements but it is better than needlewheel. Few others tried mesh mod on pinwheel and had very good results. I'm gonna hold out till tax returns and order the octopus extreme 200 though wish PA had bill me later i'd order now cause wife won't let me put anything on credit cards right now.

that was after 36 hours, had to raise riser tube up an inch cause flow was slower but after about 36 hours seem to pick up more so i lowered riser down some, seems to have small break in period.

my results will differ from regular octo 150's cause my skimmer i got earlier this year from premium aquatic was old version of extreme octopus.

octopus change designs quite often so this version didn't sell long, it was first version with bubble plate.

Well i got my OTP3000 new Pinwheel today (EbayFish) from my LFS Who is a CoralVue dealer. It's in and running so far it's about the same as my mesh mod, but not broken in yet. We will see how it does and get back and let people know how they do. BTW it was only 30.00 plus tax. very reasonable IMO. If it's not all they claim : no great loss.

We just received the shipment of impellers tonight. We'll hopefully get the 1000 and 3000 online either Tuesday or Wednesday. If you need to order in the mean time please feel free to call us at 317-895-9005.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Got mine for the 1000 delivered today. Looking forward to dropping it in tonight. I don't expect it'll be better than a good mesh, but hopefully it's better than the NW. My mesh jobs are terrible, so any step up from NW is good. And if not, can't complain about an extra impeller.

my otp 3000 is 220v 50hz. can i use the pinwheel thanks

Yes, you would be just fine running the pinwheel impeller in this pump.

please keep us posted on the performance of the 3000, $30 i would buy one but for $50 i would need to hear of some evidence of its worth.

If the new pin wheel doesnt inprove the skimmer i want to sell my DNW200 but if i have to put another $50 into it just to kind out its not worth keeping, then i will be sad.

Please who ever get the 3000 pin wheel keep us posted on how it turn out

Well i guess that everyone wants to hear something good about the pinwheel OTP3000. Tried it stock, was the same as a mesh mod thick dirty foam just IMO not enough! Tried 2layers mesh added to pinwheel, was to turbulent foam was very wet, went to 1layer of mesh it settled down and is still running that way and producing pretty good results. IMHO it is more reliable than Mesh Mod on the old needlewheel so I'm leaving it on.The price seems to vary greatly, i would try Vue Technolyg's direct thru one of their dealers, maybe it will be cheaper.

I got the OTP-1000 version from Premium Aquatics and its definately an improvement over the needle wheel. Had to drop the water level down quite a bit due to the larger foam head. Like the other guy I have the discontinued PS-120 not the NW-110 so results may be different. This is the wheel it should have came with from the beginning! My skimmer is stock BTW. I bored out the stock venturi air passage as much as possible (which is very little) but all parts are stock.

Thanks for the feedback. There is definitely going to be a performance gain over the stock needlewheel, and much more reliability than mesh as well.
