pipefish in reef tank

Hi I would like to know if a pipefish could survive in my reef tank with the tank mates that are in my signature.
I am asking because my lfs just received by acident a redtail pipefish and I don't think it will survive very long if it is left there so I would like to know if I could take it and put it in my reef tank or in my 5g fuge so that it could get proper care.

thanks

kevin

I have no experience with pipefish but I heard they do now like strong current... This could be a problem if you are running a SPS tank...

hello Kevin
I would not suggest keeping fipe fish with the above species as there will be to much competition for food

kind regards

calvin

no you need a bigger tank than a 5G least 10G for the tiny guys blue stripe pipes which only reach 2-3" mature even then i would not keep them in a tank smaller than 30G.... but i am new myself to pipes as i am still researching....

you can do it.. just make sure you have areas of your tank with little to no flow...

here is my baby....
