has anyone had any luck putting them in a reef tank with other fish i was thinking about putting some in my tank

i kept a pair of Janss' (Doryhamphus janssi) in my reef for years. flagfin pipes do well in mature reef systems.

you need to be careful with bluestripes (Doryhamphus excisus), as two males will fight to the death.

i recommend bandeds (D. dactyliophorus) or Janss'. IME, yellow-banded (D. pessuliferus) and multibandeds (D. multilineatus) are a bit more touchy and even when eating seem to fail to thrive.

folks also keep dragon-faced (Corythicthys sp.) pipes in reefs, but they're a bit harder to feed due to their small snout size. i've never kept them myself...yet...

i keep a pair of dragon faces in my mixed reef with alot of dirrerent fish and corals and they are on there ninth batch of eggs.nothing has ever really bothered them. i have a huge neon dottyback and when i put them in there he or she swam right up to one and it looked like the end but nothing happend

I kept a BlueStripe in my 12 gal. nano for about a year. With a limited amount of live rock and small critters to eat, I was concerned about what to feed him. The answer was frozen Prawn Roe from Nutrimar. The eggs are about the size of a brine shrimp cysts. This food has been the answer for lots of finicky eaters with small mouths.

That prawn roe is the best. Too bad I haven't been able to find any for 6 months. I guess the prawns aren't in the mood.
