Pisces' addiction

We added the 6 line after the Chromis, watchman, scooter, and 2 clowns. For some reason, he still thought he was king of the castle. At one point, I picked up two peppermint shrimp to take care of some small aptasia and he tore them apart one leg at a time after they had been acclimated. He did the same thing to a flasher wrasse a week before the crash.

There are a few stories around about 6 lines getting too aggressive. Tough fish to catch too...

The new Sunpower is up and burnin' away. I was able to grab some shots during the first 1.5hr acclimation daylight period. Even just the 2 actinic bulbs look brighter than my old 4 bulb fixture with 6 LED strips. I think the SPS are going to go crazy too. I had decent growth with my old fixture, but I have a gut feeling that it's going to be double now.

I also moved some pieces around to spare the LPS from the direct light. I made a cool shelf with 4 non-ps colonies on the left side and split my torch into 4 pieces to place under the arch on the right.

Here are new full's and some random shots of new pieces from the frag swap.

Well, it's now been 3 weeks since the crash and thanks to the frag swap, a lot of generous local reefers, and a tolerant girlfriend, I've managed to re-stock nicely. Here are some new shots with current stock and after moving some corals and rock around.

Unknown acro. Could go blue or purple with green or blue polyps.

Puffy blastos. I think they actually may be bleaching, the center used to be black. I'll move them into the shade tomorrow.

"Jedi Temple" acro/acropora copiosa. Started to bonsai/prune it into an interesting growth pattern. The right side may be next to go, I like the look of the lone left side and it's curve.

That's all for now, lots more new stuff, but it's all so small I'll need to let it grow a bit before they're photo worthy.

A witch's brew of amino acids, garlic, and restor mixed in with frozen foods, cyclopeze, and coral frenzy fed twice daily. Microbacter7, Vodka, Lugol's, BRS Ca & ALk daily. Magnesium and Strontium a couple times a week.

The new light helps a lot too; 6x39w ATI Sunpower running blue+, blue+, fiji purple, aquablue special, blue+, actinic.

I was flipping through the white balance settings onthe camera also so you'll notice some pictures are slightly blue, red, or purple hued.

Here's a big update since I finally have time off work.

Things are moving along well in the 50g display since the crash and re-stock. I now have 7 chromis, 1 carpenter's flasher wrasse, and our red scooter. The stock is 100% stony corals aside from some GSP hitch hikers and blue clovers that went sexual before I took them out. Everything has fully acclimated to the new 6x39w ATI Sunpower and vodka/mb7 dosing. Growth is really shocking on some of the pieces.

New heads on acan. This piece literally started as a bare skeleton covered in coraline and zoanthids.

Our 37g mushroom hex is doing very well. We haven't added much new recently because Kristyn has become very picky about the mushrooms she wants hehe. Still looking for some cool leathers for the top branches also.

All is well in the 10g torch bonsai also.

Finally, I upgraded my 10g frag system to a 30g breeder. I did this to remove the substrate and convert the setup to a barebottom SPS only system. I also swapped over my 12g aquapod to a zoanthid/GSP/clavularia frag tank so I can give them less light and dirtier water. Everything went well except the removal of substrate and addition of 20g of new water nutrient shocked my SPS frag tank and bleached a few of the smaller frags. I added 3 chromis to help this issue.

As always, thanks for the comments and for reading.

Some are growout stock (zoanthids), some SPS are or will be for sale eventually. PM me if you were interested in seeing them in person sometime or if you had questions on specific pieces.

Here are more shots from the 50g.

Big acro colony I got at the OC christmas sale. Not sure on species and it's pretty browned out, but it's showing some amazingly fast growth in less than a week and the growth tips are starting to look purple.
ukacro122409.jpg

Another unknown acro that was browned out. It's starting to look yellow with purple tips but the growth structure kinda looks like ORA Borealis.
ukacro2122409.jpg

A third brown out acro recovery. I believe it's a delicate staghorn. Growth tips are blue and polyps are nuke green.
dsh122409.jpg

Unknown acropora allthough it's one of my favorites. Super blue tips with green base, may be a tort.

you are a wizard with the camera..I never seen better coral shots, even from people with tons of money in photography equipment ...great job

BTW what heaters do you use now? I have 2 stealths and my heart dropped to my toes after reading this thread

wah! very nice comeback aaron, does not seems as your tank missed a beat! the pink torch is very nice, any frags? :)

It's actually quite bright orange in person. No frags for a long time, it seems to be a very slow grower for me and it's one of my favorites so I may sit on it for a while. Stephen may be able to order one up though check with him.

I had some free time since the chocolate shop is closed all week so I played with macro focus. Some pics are better than others. Thanks again for looking.
