Pistol/Goby pairing

Picked up a Randall's pistol shrimp today at ABC. The second I dropped him into the tank he paired with my YWG. That was pretty interesting to watch. Now he's digging his caves and the YWG is keeping guard.

A match made in heaven haha

Same thing happened when I added my pistol shrimp.
I LOVE them!
Be prepared to have a cloudy tank for a few days though....... and I hope all your rocks are firmly on the glass

Ive read online there can be problems between the Randall's pistol and other shrimp. He did have a little standoff with my scarlet cleaner, but the cleaner got the message quickly and backed away.

Anyone have problems to that effect?

I was concerned about this as well. My first shrimp was the tiger pistol - and I was afraid to add more.
Now I have a peppermint shrimp - for over a week, and a pair of red cleaners - for a couple days.
Everyone is getting along famously. They actually all hang out in the same quadrant of the tank!
All the pistol cares about is digging and building - seriously single minded - and completely controlled by the goby
My favorite thing to do is bring him fresh batches of rubble - he gets so excited! Like a puppy! And the goby always makes him wait until the coast is clear before he's allowed to come get the rubble. I can see him sitting at the entrance of the hole waiting for permission - SO CUTE!

mine still havent paired even after a year, and the pistol just snaps and pops at everything he sees, hes a grump
