Hey everyone. I just got a hi fin red banded shrimp goby. Cute little guy, isn't he?

Anyway. I'm curious if anyone else may have paired this species with certain pistol shrimps. I'm aware that the best choice for a pair with this species is the Randall's pistol shrimp, but I'm curious if anyone has had any experience with pairing these gobies with Caribbean pistol shrimp?

The obvious issue here is that these shrimp are from an entirely different ocean, but all the pet stores seem to tout them as a symbiotic shrimp and frankly I don't buy it. It doesn't seem likely that they'd hit it off.

I'd love to get a Randall's, but I can't seem to find any available anywhere... The Caribbean pistol shrimp seem more readily available.

Carribean pistols are shrimp killers and fish killers I believe. I would not get a carribean pistol. Here is a video on a carribean pistol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eKPrGxB1Kzc&feature=PlayList&p=336B5D4137551AFC&playnext=1&index=38
Tiger and Randalli are better choices.
I have a tiger pistol in my 120 which I origionally paired with a hi-fin goby but the goby commited suicide and jumped over the mesh into the overflow. I tried again this past wed with a yellow watchman goby and they paired up in less than 6 hours. Try an online site for the randalli. I ordered mine from reefhotspot. Hope this helps.
