Pix & ID: Critters that come in your rocks: the good and the bad.

I also have 1 rock covered in these small red bumps. Any idea what they may be?

You're welcome!

And as for noobs: everyone interested enough to want to know what the critters that came with his/her live rock are, is well beyond the noob stage. ;)

Cheers, Alex

Any idea what kind of crab? I can tell his legs are banded. His claws do not 'appear' to be very sharp or darker tipped. Rough pic, he is very elusive. He picks algae. Seems black/very dark maroon.

(and if anyone knows what the zoas are, top right (bottom left are bleached from the LFS, so no trying to figure those out yet)...that would be a bonus :) ) This pic is with flash.

A beautiful red macroalgae - if it shades the coral too much or if the coral recedes from where it grows I would remove it, otherwise I don't think it has much invasive potential.

I think it's a Chlorodiella species. Mainly algae/detritus eaters.
Zoanthus: we hardly name them where I come from, so I can't help - you might get an answer in the Zoa subforum here on RC.

Thanks. I should have made it more clear the first time. I was referring to the yellow film to the right of the asterina.
Might be the start of a sponge - really hard to say...

Cheers, Alex

I believe I have a few figured out but would like others opinions to be certain.
1. I believe to be pineapple sponge

2. Not sure at all leaning toward colonial sponge

3. Bristleworm

4. Haven't seen it yet completely. Just brought green favia home Sunday and saw it underneath it last night. I think is a small brittle star fish, I put small piece of shrimp out to see if favia would take it, that's when I noticed it trying to pull it underneath. If so is it OK with the favia?

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Ok so I've been trying to answer on if this is a good snail or bad and no one seems to know, asked in two different threads, going to try this one.

HELP! I need help indentifying a creature!

HELP! I need help indentifying a creature!

Hey I recently bought new live rock, it came from kupang. There's a weird creature poking out of a quarter size hole. It doesn't move from spot to spot but it does go in and out. It looks kinda fuzzy, I'll post a pic. My guess is a slug?

Any idea what the brown spiky things are? Those have been on this piece of rock since I got it when I started everything 5-6 weeks ago. I don't think it's growing, or spreading ...
