Hi.. i put in some live rock in a 29 gallon biocube. There is something growing on my rock in a tiny spot. It's pinkish coral? Sorry it is tiny and I had to zoom so photo quality could be better. I'm not sure what it is.. is it bad? Any help appreciated

Without a better picture it's really hard to tell, but it looks kind of like an anemone of some sort IMO. What else can you tell us about it? (is it hard or soft, does it have a mouth, does it ever move etc)

Aiptasia & Majano anemones are bad. There's also a ball-tipped anemone that shows up quite often in our tanks, but these are generally harmless. It's still really hard to tell from your pictures, but the one you have doesn't look like any of those IMO. Maybe somebody else will chime in with an ID.

They're generally harmless IMO, but the web that they cast out to catch food can be kind of irritating to corals sometimes. Newer tanks always seem to have a bunch of them at first, but as the tank matures and the food source becomes limited the population usually declines. If you want to get rid of them ASAP, you could try putting a small dab of super glue gel over the tip to seal them in. GL.

Hi: I am new to this reef system. The tank is with me for about 4-5 days. It is 50 gallon no refugeium at this moment but I am setting up one. It has Green Star Polyps, Hammerhead Polyps, Purple death polyps, Green polyps, Green Leather tree, Teacup macro algae and Orange tree sponge. It also have a lawnmower blenny (about 4"), Skunk cleaner shrimp and hermit snail.

Last couple of days the hermit snail was spending more time on the orange tree sponge. Today I see lot more stuff going on there. Please see the images below. What are the stuff that I pointed with arrow? Are they harming the coral? Please help.

They look like normal amphipods to me, I wouldn't think they eat sponges but I don't know for sure.

I took them out of the tank. Guess I need to dip the coral before I add them to the tank.
