New hitchhiker... Haven't seen anything in this tank in two months, now they're coming out of the woodwork (well, rockwork, technically).

Bigger than I expected, probably an inch long, looks like a fuzzy centipede... What is it, is it good, or does it need to come out?

I'm guessing bristleworm, in which case it's fine. I can't see its head, though, & don't see much fuzzy, have to take your word for that.

So here is a new one.. Super tiny and white with a star type pattern with little tenticals that branch out.. Here is the closest I could get.

I've posted in another thread but would appreciate some additional confirmation that what I've found is reef/fish safe. From what I've found I discovered that I have an increased population of isopods in my tank. After quite a bit of searching I believe I might have found an ID on this little guy....I'm a bit paranoid but when I see something like this I'd rather be safe than sorry and get others experiences!

It seems that according to the following Reef Keeper article that this is a form of Isopod, Sphaeromatid specifically from what I can tell. From what others have pointed out and said this one does not seem to be harmful to aquaria. Because I'm not 100% certain this is the Isopod I want to make sure from others! I was able to catch another 10+ tonight with a turkey baster so if I need to take some better shots I'll see what I can do with the DSLR. I only snapped the photo at bottom with my phone.

I'd like to know what those little star things are also. About a month about I had about 6 in one of my tanks but haven't seen them lately.

TheKman, looks like a hydroid jellyfish. Common in new tanks, the population willl boom then die out.

Thanks SushiGirl. I think most likely they came in some chaeto I recently added to the sump. If I had to make my tank fallow it was time to do so as I don't have the big tank tied into my system yet.

Great thread as there are not that many sources out there with a lot of the pests/critters outlined....:thumbsup:

Ball anemone. Most people say they aren't as bad as aiptasia & don't spread as fast, but I'm having a huge battle in my tank that I seem to be losing, from one a year ago to at least over 30 (that I can see to count & who knows what's in the caves & the back) now in my 55. Opinions may vary, but I say kill it with fire now.

If it helps any, yours looks prettier than mine LOL. They aren't truly anemones, but psuedocorynactis, which puts them closer to mushrooms. Still invasive, IME. At least mine have been, anyway. I've now tried 4 things to kill them in the tank & I've only succeeded in killing one for sure. The rest came back either immediately or within a day.

i have all these white critters all over the sides and back of my glass they look like if you took a small piece of string and laid it flat and rolled it around it self and at the end looks like little legs hanging out? thier every where little spiral things,,, about the size of a pencil tip to small to take a pic sorry..thanks my teachers,,,,hehe

the pics are blurry sorry best i could do i will say i bought a usb microscope that goes from 200x to 800x power i just need a longer usb cord then wow the pics are perfect,,,, you can see all the white things and that 3 leg thing that looks like a T he moves real slow should i pull him? thanks again.:headwalls:

Try looking up scypha sponges, spirorbid worms and asterina stars. The first two are harmless, but the asterina stars have been reported to eat certain corals, so you might want to think about removing those. HTH.

Aptasias?

Aptasias?

Are these Aptasias? I bought some Aptasia-X and got rid of all of the other Aptasias on this rock. These are on I think old coral attached to the live clam that came on my LR I got when I first established my tank.
