Pix & ID: Critters that come in your rocks: the good and the bad.

Worm, I have no idea what your worm is LOL.

LOL.. Yeah it was the size of a human hair... moving all over because of the dip... I could not get a good pic and by the time I got the trumpet out to get the worm, it was a knot. No good picture at all.

Thanks though!

Just appeared today on the aquarium glass, never saw this one before. The tank is 3 and a half years old...

Look on the glass near the Magfloat.

What are these? The stalk part is hard but the tips blow around. They don't look like feather dusters to me. They are small the head is only about 2-3mm

Are those olive snails, Paul?

You need to tell those mini brittles that they have the right to bear arms :lmao:.

When my mom was staying with me after my last surgery, she noticed one of my white mcro brittles that only had 3 legs. Boy, I've never seen them get such long arms when I had them before, but I have a lot in the 20L that are trying really hard to get as long of arms as the black & white mini brittles in the 55!

No, I think they are marginal snails but I am not a snail expert, I got millions of them. Brittle stars also, one leg, two legs, three legs etc.

Hello all. Im pretty new to the hobby and the forum. Ive been through almost the entire thread and others as well trying to id a worm i have in my recently cycled tank. He is very very small and impossible to photo. I can only see him with a magnifying glass and most interestingly is he is black with blue bands ( or blue with black bands) and is very shy. I have never seen more than a 1/4 inch at the most and he seems to shrink into himself and he seems to be eating stuff from off the rock he's living in. I know a pic would help but. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

NiCL, the action sounds like a peanut worm.
Tatuaje, could be bryopsis, but I have no experience with it so maybe someone who does will chime in.

From everything Ive read thats what i thought too but couldn't find anything about one that was blk and blue. Thanks

Oh well, its just the one small patch.

FAMOUS LAST WORDS OF MANY.

Get rid of it now. Trust me. This is why...and I had less than you....

Take the rock it is on out of the tank and kill the algae with peroxide and get every single strand. Mine started with 1 strand on a frag I thought was 'pretty'. Do not try to remove it while it is in the tank or it will spread. See above^. If it ever does get as bad as mine did or even worse, do not fret. I have been bryopsis free for a long time now. There are a few solutions.
