Pix & ID: Critters that come in your rocks: the good and the bad.

They came with the rock. They were freebies. The only thing I ordered was the rock and the clean up crew They also threw in a crab (picture attached). The scallop has been hiding in the rocks. He's probably in his third spot now. I have been feeding the tank Kent Microvert every other day. And I am also going to be feeding Seachem Phytoplankton twice a week.
I'd not try the Phytoplankton, unless the scallop is a bigger one. I tried to target feed mine, and it rejected it all, even after chopping it following dehydrating them. Mine seems to be doing well on the marine granules, and the brine shrimp and algae cubes I feed the tank to feed my cardinal fish. It's been over 4 months, and all's well with it.

860 that's 95% a Cirolanid isopod. That's gotta go. I'm guessing by now you have no idea where it is at. It feeds on fish flesh. I didn't realize this post was so old... sorry

I have 2 hitch hiker starfish that came on a couple sponges I bought, they are now about the size of a half dollar and look like serpent stars. Are they safe?

Otherwise known as brittle starfish, the answer is yes, they are reef safe. I have one in my tank too, came in as a hitch hiker on a coral. Most of the time you won't even see them. They are normally quite shy.

Thank you, I thought they were brittle starfish, just making sure!
I'm about to take out the sponge, he isn't doing too good, but figured they'd be easier to catch if I needed to before I take the sponge out.

two items I was hoping to ID.

First, the object in the red circle. It's white, when I feed the tank I think I can see tiny filter feeders coming out of the tubes. It doesn't ever move, but I believe it is slowly getting larger.

Second, the object in blue.

It looks like some kind of spiderweb/roots that appear to originate from the round sponge like thing circled. I assume it's a filter feeder, but none of the other sponges in the tank have those root like things coming off of it. Any ideas?

That white thing might be a Foraminiferan of some type. The rest of it just looks like sponges or perhaps fungus or bacteria.

I just found this, but haven't seen any photos. Ideas?
