PK's 160g with Vertex illumina LEDs - build thread

Looks great!!!! Is that a 36" fixture? im building a 60x36x30 and i really like this fixture. No concerns about the length or depth....i am concerned about the width of my tank and the spread of the fixture. Do you have any pictures of the tank with the lights on?

I looked into some tanks with similar width and did not see any problems. Plus in a mixed reef, creative aquascaping can fix limitations of the spread. If anything you can use that to your advantage, as different corals have different lighting needs

I do not have water in the tank as of right now (trying to finish plumbing today). But I will take some pictures later and post them.

Filled up and started cycle this weekend....finally.

Wow...impressive!!! That tank looks like a LeeMar? I just built my first "Herbie" style tank six months ago and really like it. It is super quite and works as advertised. Given the four holes in your overflow that looks like what you have planned as well.

Looking forward to your progress. Congrats!

Oh, nice light too.

Looks very very nice. Stand looks quality! Is that Key Largo Rocks from MarcoRocks? How have you started the cycle process? Did you dose any bacteria? Keep the update going, this is an excellent and top quality build.

I love how the water level is close to the top; it's as if you're truly looking through windows. I feel like you could look up inside the tank, and the scene would continue upwards. It's a very pleasing effect.

On the other hand, do you have any concerns about the water level being too high?

Great job with the setup; the stand is amAAAzing! Can we get some more detailed shots of that aquascaping? :D

Do you have any pics of when you were doing the trim around the top of your stand? It looks so great ... I'd like to get an idea of where to start!

Thanks all for the complements. I will post some progress pictures soon.

Yes rocks are MacroRocks, really like them. Yes its now up and running, no bacteria dosing as of yet, but might start shortly.

Top of the tank almost 6' high, kids like that a lot as to them it goes on forever :). Tank is eurobrace, not rimless, so water level is not a big concern, if this was rimless, I would be in big trouble as my returns are all they way to the top of the water, if it was even fraction of an each lower, my sump would have overflowed during power outage.

Let me see what I can find. I will post some pictures soon.

This is is the only picture I have that is showing the top of the tank. I hope this helps.

Replacing the dining table (which we hardly ever used) with a bistro table. Now my wife's favorite seat in the house.
