Hello,

I am planning to go BB in my 136 gallon tank with sump.Should I keep a DSB in my sump or will my tank survive without a DSB in sump. Also how much flow is required in a sump.

Thanks,
Haksar

You can run a tank without the DSB. many do run RDSB's to help with nitrates. I keep the flow through my sump close to the gph of my skimmer so that more of the water is getting skimmed. I belive 3x-5x is the recommended flow thorugh the sump.

Sump is 35 gallons and tank is 100gallons.I already have some LR and litlle DSB in the sump.I am planning to keep in the sump but do not watn add more.So my skimmer pump is 3000l/h so I will get a pump similar to this power.

I'd put the LR in the display and have about a 4-5 inch DSB in the sump. That way you will have plenty of surface area for denitrification in the DSB. If that 3000 L/hr (793 U.S. gals/hr) is your total circulation rate for the system I would upsize by twice that amount. More like 6000 L/hr.
