i have an 8g biocube and i am going to set it up for dwarf seahorses. i know they need live food and i can hatch bbs. i want to add some seagrasses and stuff but i'm not sure what to add or where to get it. i was going to get 10 sea horses. is that to little or to much? thanks!

10 zots in a biocube should be OK in terms of bioload. however, most of the "plug n play" systems run about 5*F too high for SH. also, you may have to mod or aim the flow strategically, especially for zots (they're pretty lazy and remain hitched most of the time waiting for food to swim by).

as for live macro, it's a great idea, but you need to be careful as the live food you feed to the SH often triggers a hydroid bloom, which can kill zots pretty easily. peeps are doing FW dips, and sometimes dipping the macro in other baths as well prior to using them in a zot setup.

maybe Tom or another super-experienced zot-keeper can chime in and lend some advice here.

ok thanks. i didn't really want to do a lot of macros. i just wanted them to have a seagrass bed so they can hitch. i was thinking of getting a blueberry gorgonian too.

they're gorgeous, but i doubt it will live, esp. in a SH tank. the live food would be a help, but the flow in most SH systems isn't sufficient to keep it free of algae. i'd pass on it and let someone with a super mature reef give it a shot. if you do try it, and you lose it, the skeleton would make a nice hitch.

also, there's that issue with hydroids again...just one drop of water can seed the tank.
