platinum percs pair staying on opposite sides of the tank?

you could be right.. I will wait another year I think and then give up completely.

No way! Just keep plugging at it. Don't let them get the best of you. Try to pair them with others first. Bet if you check your local aquarium society someone haas a clown with the same standards of your that you might can get to help you pair yours.

As an update I put them into the 11 gallon this morning and they've been inseparable ever since, we'll see how it goes but it's looking very promising :)

Good luck but I'm 90% sure they will still fight...

Out of curiosity, how did you come by that number? Is it with different clownfish species or just across the board? ime the percs and ocellaris that fight over territory tend to forget what all the fighting was about once you take them out of their claimed space, but I don't know much of anything about other clownfish species...

As another update, nemoboy1 was cracking eggs of wisdom all over this thread, because the female decided it wasn't going t owork for her and chased the little one into the overflow a few times over until I just put him back in the main tank.

Now I'm at a loss on what to do. I've had the female for a year and she hosts a frogspawn, hammer and xenia which looks great, but she'll probably either kill the other one over time or they'll both turn female. I'm on the fence about trading the female for another small platinum and pairing it with the smaller one to see how it goes... Any suggestions? At this point I'm pretty sure they're not going to get along no matter how much time passes.

Cracking wisdom here I go.... Send them to me is what I suggest. In all honesty, best to try pairing them up with different clowns or let them stay Together and hope they will pair up one day... If they don't kill each other first...I myself would separate them. Good luck

I would try again

Believe me, I'd have one dead little clownfish if I'd kept them in there, she was definitely not having it. They were great for a day, but then she just flipped :(

lol, I'll send them right over :)

The thing is I'd love to pair the smaller one up with another small ORA one, and I'm pretty sure the female isn't going to pair up with anything for quite some time, but the female lives in my xenia/frogspawn/hammer which honestly looks really nice. I'd hate to pull her from the tank too since I've had her for over a year now...

She's not trying to kill him at feeding time now, and he eats food even if it drifts next to her which is a plus. Aside from that not much change, they still live on opposite sides of the tank.

She's got about a year and a half in my tank and is about 2", not sure how old but she was about 3/4" when I got her. Female or not she's one aggressive and territorial fish... They swim together at feeding time, but aside from that the little one's living in a corner of the tank.

She isn't a fully develope female yet or she simply doesn't like him... Either way be careful... Add another clown into the mix and she might find the 3rd clown more attractive ... Also be cautious when doing this

No worries, I wouldn't add another clown unless I got rid of one of them, definitely don't need three of them going at it in a 32 gallon. So out of curiosity, when she becomes a fully developed female will she be more likely to accept the male clown if it's not just about her disliking him?

I really like the female (or bigger one whatever) and would rather keep them both if there's hope :)

As of now does she tolerate him during the day at all... Allows him to share nem day time??? Or not at all??? If she is tolerating him during the day she is more than likely in the process of being a female... It's like a sex change with humans it takes time. When she fully allows him to sleep with her at night and play with her during the day time she will mostly likely be a female at this point... I personally wouldn't worry too much... If you like those two stick to it but be careful...

They'll swim together when it's feeding time, but aside from that she's never shared the xenia/frogspawn. She doesn't chase him around anymore, but that's about as well as they get along...

Moving in the right direction... Once she start sharing during the day
Means she is tolerating him more and soon enough he will share it at night time... This is when u know they are a true bonding pair.

Sounds good, I'm going to let them do their thing for a few more months and see how it goes, thanks very much for the advice!
