im having trouble finding southdown sand in my area. is there another brand that would be suitable for a reef aquarium?
ive read about a test you can do with vinegar but i cant find the thread and forgot how the test works.

any suggestions are appreciated. thanks

im filling a 210 gallon and aragonite from the fish store would be way too much money. i have plenty of live sand i can scoop out of my other tanks to seed the play sand.

Go to HD or Walmart and look for kolorscape. Its packaged by old castle and myself as well as many other reefers here have used it successfully

Wash it thoroughly before use.

sand beds seem to be an interesting topic now a days.
i have a buddy that lives east coast FL and said he would glady ship me sand from the beach there.
is that worth it?

other then the cost to ship it that is.

IIMO no. Unless your getting you sand from way out in the ocean, or digging like 10 feet down I dont think its worth it. Its probably going to be full of stuff you dont want
