I must be crazy to open myself up to this, but tell me what you think of my placement of this 1.5 inch Maxima Clam.

It is about 10 inches below the water surface under a 250 watt Phoenix 14K bulb. Water movement is medium. The tank is about 24 inches deep.

The clam is sitting in a depression in the rock, and the potential perching area is about 2" x 2". The rock is angled toward the back of the tank at about 35 degrees.

I set it there last night, and by this morning, it was tightly stuck to the rock.

Nope, your clam placement is all wrong...I would like to see it placed in my tank!

Kidding of course, that's a great location.

nice placement and pattern!!

(off topic in the first picture, is that an A. Nana in the bottom left? I just got a frag that looks like it and I've been trying to find an ID)

I don't know exactly what kind of Acro it is. I bought it as a Purple Acro from LiveAquaria.com. It's a beautiful specimen and is doing well so far. The same can't be said for the hairy acro crab that came with it.

wastememphis, I also thought it might be an Acropora secale, as both the nana and secale come from Fiji, but I think the secale is more rounded than the nana.

The little Maxima is still perched and firmly stuck to the rock point. I guess he likes the placement.

That's one seriously beautiful clam! May I ask where you got it? Is that appropriate here? If not, PM?
Thanks. I agree and was thrilled to see it upon arrival via FedEx. I purchased the clam from LiveAquaria.com. It was sold as a "Maxima Ultra" the small size.
