That came along with a zoa/paly colony I just bought. I'm hoping it's just some kind of sponge, but want to know what it is I'm putting into my tank and that it's not going to be a nuisance. Please and thank you.

It's the white things growing out around them. The tentically looking things. (Yeah...I said tentically, can't thing of another way to describe it.

Looks like sponge. I had some growing on my first zoa frag & got worried it would choke them out (it tried LOL), but the zoas overcame it.

Awesome, thanks. I was paranoid and forgot to do an iodine dip (actually unsure if you even can with zoas.) I just didn't want anything to take out the rest of my babies due to a cheap impulse buy.

Some sponges can be a nuisance. If you decide you want to remove it, you can pluck it out with a toothpick. It will not hurt the polyps if you do this carefully, as long as they are not out of the water too long.

yeah looks like a sponge. you can dip zoas, I did and they were fine. I used seachems coral disinfectant for 5 minutes.

Thanks everybody.

Lynn, id that an Iodine dip?
yep! This is directly from seachem's site: "Reef Dipâ„¢ contains elemental iodine complexed to a protective slime coat for safely and gently disinfecting corals. It is effective against bacteria, fungus, and protozoans. It may be used prophylactically (without evidence of disease) or to remedy diseased specimens. It is safe to use with both stony and soft corals. It is also safe for anemones and polyps."
