I keep an eye on it and rip some out whenever it needs it. It's just in my qt to help out with nutrient problems, it keeps the cyano in check from taking over the sand. The wrasse made a home underneath the rock where the algae is attached to for now. He's been looking brighter and brighter every day so I assume everythings all good. Is there something else that I should be worried about? I don't have it in my dt other than the sump which I trim whenever it needs to be as well

i am looking at a Wrasse Hoven's (Christmas) Halichoeres Melanurus is the same as a Christmas Wrasse and should i get a male or female
 
both females and male are beautiful fish but my preference is the female . the males are indeed more brilliant and have a bit taller body with blue green shading rather than the female which is the same base shade throughout with the false eyes being a bit more pronounced.they both are good candidates for a community tank .
 
I defently recommend a pair of mystery wrasse's or one. I have a pair in my 120gallon with a aus.tusk...awsome to see them cruise around together with there eyes spinning around. Anyone know how to the difference between a F or M mystery wrasse.
 
yes but most mystery wrasses get a bit territorial once they get settled in and you need to have other fish that can handle their aggression towards tank mates.i would suggest to have them housed with semi-aggressive fish only .if not at least they should be the last fish introduced into the tank. also i cant find a picture of female vs male mystery wrasses , i have a very good wrasse book and there are three pictures but they don't signify M or FM . funny because every other type they do show the differences except the mystery .
 
Yes, mystery wrasse's can be territorial. I have Aus. Tusk and a pair of mystery wrasse and P.Tang in my 120. Gallon with no problems whats so ever. The mystery wrasse's were the 2nd to go in and of course the p.tang was the last. But yes, Agreed with mystery wrasses beling in semi agg.tank unless there the last ones going in and its a big tank. I also agree. I cant find anything whats so ever on the net or in books about there sexes. When i bought the pair. The owner told me Thats the small one with no lines is the females and the bigger one with lines is the mail. I got them when they were about an inch and inch in a half. I introduced the small one first then the bigger one last. But there lines change. Now the small one has the lines and the bigger one doesnt. Confused, but there fine. never fight cruise around the tank together. i have to put some chicken wire. I heard when they get bigger they will try to jump.

i really don't see to much differences in the light yum hair algae i am going to pick up one if the wrasses today its a blue flasher wrasse the other wrasses will be coming in soon i hope

been searching for pictures of male and female mystery wrasse but haven't had any luck at all .its almost as if they don't signify the difference or its not visual .
 
thanks wrasseman for the help how long do i QT her for should i wight for the outher wrasses to come in and introduce all at the time
