I am a fairly new reef tank owner. I have become amazed with zoos and have just added quite a few(about 50-75). I found your forum and began reading about how nudibranchs are not good and eat the zoos. I have 1 Lettuce Nudibranch which many say is considered a sea slug. Do i still need to remove this Lettuce Nudibranch or will it be fine with my zoos. Please help quickly so I can get some sleep tonight without worrying about my poor zoos.

As twon8 said, there is no worry. Most types of nudibranch have a highly specialized diet. Pest nudibranch will often resemble the corals they eat.

In your case, yours eats algae :)

Your fine with those ;)

On the subject of the lettuce nudis, how do people find them? I've been considering trying them out for a while now but didn't know whether they were really effective at algae control and also whether they survive well in captivity. Please let me know :)

I use them as a way to clear frags of algae when they I get them from other people. I keep them in a little hang on breeder deal. I find that when you let them roam in the tank they don't last long. They usually find a powerhead and get chopped up fairly quickly. But keeping them in the breeder baskets I get about 6 months out of them.

One other thing I have noticed is that not all lettuce nudis are created equal. Some are algae eating machines and some don't even touch it. I usually get 6 at a time. Luckily I am fortunate to have an aquatics importer as a good friend and don't have to pay the inflated prices for them :)
