Ive been dosing prazi for 10 days now after my cbb showed fluke like symptoms.

Well now he isnt twitching anymore but now he is hiding breathing very fast, something is attacking his gills they look beat up and ragged no mucus thou. If it is gill flukes why arentt they dyingh

What should i do

I have also done wcs once a week, have my returns out of the water shooting in to increase oxygen, and all params are in check..

No, 2 separate 5 day treatments of one dose each period.

m worried he may have brook as well or some other disease mac thts why i posted

He isnt in qt i put him right in the DT since cbbs are hard to get to eat. Ive been dosing prazi in DT

I can set up a qt if needed but i may fw dip him in a few days if he is still alive to see if its flukes or not

Could be ich or (hopefully not) marine velvet in his gills. F/w dip will provide temporary relief for velvet, but probably doesn't do much for ich.

In your situation, I would do a 5 min f/w dip and then move him into a QT. The dip will at least confirm/deny whether he still has flukes.

Is it very dangerous to him?

Id like to feed him well for a few weeks before i subject him to more meds he doesnt eat anything since i put prazi in there, its like hes drunk

Update: came home at midnight to find him laying on a rock looking dead, gills moving. I figured it has to be a gill related illness now he cant breathe.

I fw dipped him bc he was going to die if i dodnt do something. A few white spots came off maybe, but im sure its not flukes doing this... He is bad. Wouldnt move in fw, tumbled... After 45 secs took him out.

Immediately made 20% wc to take out some prazi killing oxygen. I also stirred the water which seemed to help. I have no carbon i think he cant breathe well from illness and the prazi is makong it harder..

Its now 4:30am, after 8 wcs, stirring, fw dip, amquel, and grabbing him and holding him in my return flow for oxygen im now going to bed, i will probably find him dead in the am..

Im uttetly dissapointed. I love this fish. Im dissapointed in my lfs for selling me an ill fish, ill never buy a fish there again. I had this cbb eating perfectly....

If he is still alive in the am im carboning the prazi out and go from there but last look he is on the ground flat breathing hard, thts usually a death sign, but thetes nothung more i can do right now

Sorry to hear... Did you see if any of the "white spots" fell out of his gills during the f/w dip? There is at least 1 species of flukes that cannot be eradicated via Prazi. You have to use formalin or f/w dip.

Sorry you lost him. For future thought: IMO & IME: CBBs, and most finicky feeders, are much easier to get eating in a QT than a DT. No bullies, competition, mayhem, etc. There is really no good reason to not use the QT with all new fish.

He died. Upon inspection in his gills i found worms.. Not sure if they went in after he died but i doubt it. Fw dip no flukes...

Never heard of worms living in fish gills but they are way up in there

Actually, nvm werent worms at all just gill filaments!

Lookinf throygh his gills i see nothing. Tap water dip a few white spots, 7 or 8. Mucus on very bottom gill flap, bottom gills are very dark colored and infected looking

If it was gill flukes prazi did little to no help, actually probably killed him from lack of oxygen
