:sad2: help : plz running a 55g long. occupants include anem, 4 ocl clowns i blue tang 2 hammers 2 shrooms and couple other softies.learning names anywhoots.i switched my crushed coral on the bottom for live sand. eeeer, noob mistake.tank is so cloudy can't see anyone in there. 50 pds of rock.;;;;should i take my stuff out ? will it survive. can i shoot myself for being so stupid so upset need help.. anything i can do?

Did you rinse the sand before adding?

Just leave it alone it will eventually clear up. If you have a filter sock I'd use it until the dust settles.

FYI, you didn't have to buy live sand as it will turn live in short order. Besides it is twice the cost of dry sand. Remember to always rinse new sand before putting in the tank. If your tank already has water get a container or a long tube to get the sand to the bottom. This keeps it from getting stirred up in the water.

So do your best to filter out the dust cloud.

omg. im so stressed. yes it was live sand lfs said not to rinse. and i went with the live for the purpose that i was told it was the best to use lfs once again....eeeer. like i said I'm a newb still making mistakes,guess going to this lfs is my biggest. just don't want anything(one) to die for my screw up. going to get nylons and cotton balls to make a filter )

Everything will be fine, just takes time to settle.

I used live sand and it got really cloudy but it went away in a day or so, and everything was fine in my tank. I have a bunch of softies too

Your LFS is there to make a buck off of you, we're not. We're only here to help you be successful! :beer:

Your fish and everything else in the tank will be just fine. Cheaper filter is pillow stuffing and it's cheap and can be purchased at WalMart

tyvm for everyones help in this . made my add on homemade filter nylons& cotton balls. so as i sit and watch ( like watching paint dry lol. but I'm relieved little more now thx to you all.

it's not necessarily a mistake, I like these live sand and I don't rinse it
