Reviving thread as it's been 6+ months and I need some inspiration. In the midst of my latest new tank affliction, black cyano crud. Working my way through it but I could use some pretty T5 SPS tank candy as inspiration for the fight.

Thanks Jonathan. Love your tank !! I think of mine as it's smaller cousin from Eddie. I just happened to be breezing through your Cyano thread this morning a bit. Was a good read, thinking about trying SB if things don't improve in the next 6-8 weeks.

Well I think over the coarse of 3 years the opening statement has been proven. You CAN have a successful reef on T5 Lighting :-)

Ha ha , sorry about the tupaware. The Bannana wrasse sleeps in there everynight. I bought the wrasse to to help keep my acros free of pests.
The lights are 8 x 54w ATI 3 x aqua special 1 x coral pro 4 x blue plus. KZ rev small skimmer and 10 - 20 % water change weekly depending on how energetic i am feeling. i dose Damprid, Bicarb, ESV magneisium, K balance and coral vitalizer.

Thanks Merfin LOL.. That will always be our connection :) SB is good stuff. Order more than you need. The key is keeping on the regiment with it.. It really works.

Very nice.. Would love to hear more about your system!

My T5 reef tank
Absolutely beautiful. I hope my tank looks like yours in another year or so.. More info please. :eek2:

impressive philipgu! here, let me help! more info would be nice too.

Reefsahoy, what do you think of T5 progress now that your thread is 3+ years old. Clearly T5s are working well for you. That tank is hot !! I'm trying them on my new tank for the 1st time.

I do like T5's alot. Personally for me there's more than one way to skin a cat! T5's give awesome colors as you can see thru the many tanks posted here. What's funny here is there are a few people who i know said T5's couldn't keep sps and that it's a hype, or some camera trick who is now going T5's from MH. I do believe T5's aquarium consume less electricity due to the fact that you can get away with less power to keep sps and therefore less heat to the tank. I believe that is the main advantage to T5's. With that said i went MH and T5's combo to get best of both worlds. I love the look when only the T5's are on for the dusk/dawn time and i like the shimmer during the mid day time. I consume 700 watts and i know i probably could get away with 400 watts of T5's so that's ALOT more power i'm consuming. I do enjoy coming back to this post to see the T5's success tanks!
