Have to say this tank is really beautiful.

Holly cow Looks like a screen save "Couples Retreat" had to cite my source on that one. But honestly does. I know whe are talking about light configurations and all, but in addition to wanting to know the stats on the lighting system itself. Do you think you can get in touch with this person to get a full list of stats? tank dimension light system bulbs watage, type of corals you know the flow the whole nine yards. That would be awsome to know what are those two units sitting on the back of the tank facing toward us when you look at this pics? Fans or something? I did not see or notice an over flow. I would love to know what type of live sock in in this tank as well. This is really one of the and I hate to sound girly here but it really is one of the most prettiest tank I have ever seen. It certainly ranks up there in the top 10 I have seen thus far I wonder how esablished this tank is how long its been up and running and if everything grown in this tank started out under thoses T5's and how long they been running on the tank. I mean I do not doubt or anything and I hate to eve question as I am a total Noob but unless you know this person personaly how do we know these were not all grow under MH and then just recently switched to the T5's I mean I am not doubting but you know is a fair question I think.

Oh and did you guys see the featured tank of the month and read that entire article? WOW! what a tank but it is definatly not a set it and forget it tank do you read the daily maintenace on this thing you would have to be able to work out of your home to take care of all those daily maintenece item you know but man well worth it anythig worth having is rite?

must cost like 500$ month to run all that he has probably has his own back up generators to, could you imagine if the main power supply going into that house went out for like a day or two ouch!!! rite??

Did anyone notice that many of these T5 only tanks now have MH in their sigs? Do people just get tired of T5's? I am just wondering, I am doing a second tank and I am going to give the ATI PowerModule a try on the new tank.

When you compare them side to side.

T5s are really flat looking. MH really makes the tank come alive

Colorwise T5 > MH anyday all day.

Electricity wise, its a tossup. T5 are only efficient on smaller tanks with use less bulbs. Once you start using 8-10 bulb fixture, the difference in electricity consumption is minuscule. You could also argue MH users still supplement with t5s or VHO, which makes T5 the clear winner.

If I had a choice between MH & T5. 400W Radiums > ATI T5 > 250W MH.

eh...I'm over the MH's and the glimmering phase!

I ran a pair of 400w HQI's in the past and all it did was bleach out my SPS and boil my water...not to mention my elec. bill was thru the roof here in So Cal.

T5's dont get torching hot, and definitely dont make my meter spin like crazy. I get crazy growth and PE. If I happen to get bored of the color, I can swap out a bulb for my own interest!!!

Nice summation... Maybe the most understandable I have read. Thanks for posting this for me.

Much can be said for the look of T5s, your tank looks great. The Europeans seem to only use T5 with great results. Hence my willingness to give it a go on one of the two new tanks I am bringing online. I am just not ready to ditch the MHs on my primary display. I want to try them all.

Um"¦"¦. What, this does not make sense, my tanks are alive the same no matter if T5's or a MH is over it. The corals are still alive, fish everything. I think what you wanted to say is that MH give the tank a more natural look with the shimmering of the light rays into the tank depending on water flow.

Yes, since they have had T5's way before we here in the US have had them.

personally, the "T5s are flat" and "mh mades the tank look alive" is total garbage. That may be your opinion but dont try and pass it off as truth. The fact is T5s are an excellent way to light just about any tank. I have seen some T5 tanks that completely blow away similar Mh tanks. The colors are amazing with T5s and so is coral growth.

misinformation is worse than no information.
