I was shipped 'overnight' two packages, the first time, fedex had issues with getting it here on time, one fish died. you guys send a replacement (thanks) and it was ALSO delayed, fish was DOA. Again, you send another one, and I finally get it 'overnight'.

I never have this problem w/UPS.

v8maro,

We apologize you incurred problems with your shipments, and we appreciate your suggestion for utilizing a different shipment method. We will certainly forward them for review. The only overnight service we offer for live specimens is Federal Express. For supply orders we offer UPS ground as an alternative upon request. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Please contact us if you have further questions or concerns.

My experience with priority overnight FEDEX has been a good one. However I am very careful not to order when snow is predicted as there may be issues with the planes having "flow control" delays because of weather in a FEDEX hub.

I have even recived deliveries in my area, when there has been school closings, and thick heavy snow is still falling...I think that some are just more unlucky than others...

FedEx has been great for me. My driver now puts the fish up with him to keep the temp. better for the fish.

Weather and equipment delays will always happen no matter what carrier.

My fed ex driver is great also. he was asking what all these live fish boxes were all about. Once we told him he has been very careful with our boxes. I guess it just depends on your driver.

I agree with Fed Ex doing well. Today he delivered my LA order and even thanked me for trusting them with my live fish!!!

Pretty nice I thought.

I've had some issues with FedEx overnight. One thing that irks me is, after paying multiple times for "Priority" service by 10:30 a.m., it shows up at 12:00. Asked the driver about this, says he makes only one run to my neighborhood. Basically he said not to pay extra for Priority as it won't make any difference.

Another time they dropped the ball on two overnight packages. They were going to deliver them next day (i.e. like a two day air instead of overnight). My wife and I raised some hell and ultimately they did get it to us that day, arriving around midnight by courier. Appreciate their effort, but lost a bunch of awesome corals and two fish. DFS was great as usual and got a credit but still felt terrible about the loss.

I've had really good experience with UPS and DHL overnight service, both arrive much earlier (by 10 a.m. without paying extra) and no delayed deliveries.

I'll stop short of recommending DFS abandon FedEx for overnight deliveries, but some having customer select DHL or UPS overnight as an option would be wonderful even if it costs a bit more. At least where I live, they both have far superior overnight service compared to FedEx.

Ekovalsky,

Thank you for explaining your delivery experiences on your post. Unfortunately not all carriers agree to transport live specimens. All in all we have tremendous success with Federal Express's performance. However, we apologize to hear about any problems and will work to correct them. Also thank you for your vote of confidence in Foster and Smith and LiveAquaria.

Another option for your deliveries is for you to pick the order up at your local Federal Express station. We will be happy to check into this idea for you and determine if it can be done for your future orders.

Ekovalsky and other Customers reading this thread,

Thank you for posting your questions and suggestions with regards to our shipping options. We appreciate all of your suggestions and we always take these into consideration when we review our shipping procedures.

Federal Express has provided us with great delivery options and a reliable service for many years. We understand the frustration that can accompany a late delivery and we wanted to take this opportunity to explain the shipping options a little further. FedEx Priority Overnight can be delivered as late as 4:30pm in some areas. The actual time of delivery for priority night is normally guaranteed by 10:30am, 12pm, or 4:30pm, depending on the area. If anyone has questions as to when Priority Overnight is normally delivered in their area, please either call or PM us and we would be happy to investigate this further. Standard FedEx overnight is normally guaranteed by 8pm.

We hope this clarifies the shipping time frames and options and I would encourage any of our customers to contact us with any further questions as we are always happy to help!

Best thing anyone ordering livestock can do imo is have the order delivered to the fedex / ups facility and held for pick up. Nobody to blame but yourself if the truck is late coming to your house, or they overlook that delivery somehow. It's also less transport for the animals, as they just sit in the facility all day until you get there. I realize it's not an option for everyone, but something to consider.

i agree.. instead of you waiting all day for your fish... have Drs send the package "hold at station" and go get them at 8 am....

I've done this also with my few dealings w/ LA. Good thing is you get them sooner and don't have to pay for the priority service, just standard.:fish1:
