Just bought a Tunze 9010 after having bought one afew months ago, returned it and then bought a deltec, sold that and ended up getting another 9010. I feel like an idiot, this little game costs me $200 wasted I am almost sick my stomach and I wanted to tell everyone so I can be ridiculed. I hope I made the right decision I purchased this 9010 for a 90 gallon rr tank I am setting uo, please tell me I made a good choice or I will quit this hobby today

I love my 9005 and can only imagine how much greater the 9010 works with a stronger pump. IMO you made a great choice.

Don't feel bad. There are lots of ppl in this hobby that has done the same. I for one. I got 4 types of skimmer in my garrage right now and only one is being used.

You did the right thing. I have so much aquarium stuff under the steps in the basement it's scary.

thanks I feel better, I did not know the collection cup in the deltec mce600 was so tiny!! I was having to clean it and empty it every 2 days on my 55 gal !! I can't imagine having it in a sump in a larger aquarium.. I felt that I would have had to clean it daily and that is too much trouble..i wish i would have just kept my 9010 the first time i bought it instead of returning it and purchasing all over again thanks for the words of encouragement

My 9010 can go 5 days easy between cleaning.
You the same kind of system that I am setting up, a 90gal rr with a 20 gal sump. Did you make your own sump? or did you buy one? do you have your 9010 in sump? how do you have it set up? I would appreciate any help

I've had an Aqua C EV120 and the Deltec MCE 600. Both are paperweights as far as Im concened. My Tunze 9010 is small, quiet, and has steadily pulled crud in copius amounts for the last year now. Excellent, excellent choice for a 90 gal system IME.

OK I finally got my 9010 last night and I have not installed into my 55 gal instead I have been playing with it since I am building my own sump I need to make sure it has enough space. I have a question I read in the manual that the skimmer needs to have its own skimmer box instead of sharing the same compartment with the overflow drain, so I am setting up a baffle 9" tall after the overflow drain and then the 9010 sump set up, after followed by another baffle 71/2" tall is that going to be enough water retention and height for it to work at its full potential or should i alter something?? I have all the pieces together just have not glued anything thanks and sorry for lenghty manuscript

Yes, I made my own sump using the plan found on Melev's site. I have the 9010 sitting in the first compartment with the overflow. There are very few bubbles from the overflow so I don't think it's hurting the skimmer's performance. Let me know if you need any help/pic etc.
