plugging hole in back of 9010

Roger,

I received my 9010 via UPS drop-shipped from you in Texas. Everything was in excellent condition upon arrival.

I recall that, in a past thread, you mentioned that there would be no negative consequence to plugging the small hole in the back of the skimmer body when used in-sump with the riser tube attachment.
Is this actually the case? Will plugging the hole hamper skimming performance in any way?

(I suppose I could just give it a try and see what happens...)

If run in sump with the pipe it can be plugged without ill effect but the water level has to be run at the lower end of the range, say below 8".
