I know its sunday but if anybody can help me by coming to the house and helping me remedy my leaking situation on the new tank I WOULD GREATLY GREATLY APPRECIATE IT. I am not sure how I can reimburse you at this moment but I promise I will think of something. My stress is through the roof right now so if you or someone you know can help me out please get back to me as soon as you can ill be standing by trying not to have a nervous breakdown.

I am not an expert at plumbing, and am working...but maybe if you describe whats going on we could walk you through it on the board. I know that skinny joe has done this for several people and got them going.

well i bought the tank from reefcrazy4 and he gave me the plumbing that he had used on the tank. both of the bulkheads seem to be leaking and no matter how much i tighten them they dont seem to be getting any better

Did you hand tighten them or do more with the bulkheads? if its possible to replace them with new ones and just hand tighten it may help but I'm *not* any whiz with plumbing at all.

The issue can be they become so tight I believe they warp and break their seal for the situation I was thinking of.

What side of the bulkhead do you have the gasket...the flange (mushroom) side or the nut side? Most likely causes would be having the gasket on the wrong side (needs to be on the flange), there's sand or other sediment on the gasket preventing a solid seal, or it's overtightened and compressing the gasket away from plastic allowing a leak. HTH

How bad are they leaking? Mine was leaking a little...I took care of that crap by tighting them good and finished it off with a nice bead of silicone sealant! that worked for me...I don't want to risk leaks...they can get messy!

if places are closed or don' have any in stock just grab some conduit pvc fittings a male and female, and get some neoprene rubber in plumbing and you are good to go for less the 3 dollars at Lowes.

more than likely you crushed the gasket by overtighten it. when i install it's hand tight and a 1/4 turn. did you clean off the top of the overflow base before you installed. if not you could have build-up not allowing them to seal. if there is nothing in the tank don't rush it. drain the overflow and tommorow swing by marcye's and pic up a 3/4" and 1" (common but bring them with you) and clean the base with vingear and water then dry and install the gasket on the upper side and nut below the glass. rule of thumb is to replace all bulkheads if they have been installed before. they are too cheap for the headache they caused you. goodluck and i will be avaible tommorow afternoon. i'm in titusville but will drive over there to help you install them. send me a pm and let me know

now im having a leak coming out of the side of the sump :(, now im completely worried something is going to happen while im asleep or something :(

I think you might be overtightening if that's on the bulkhead as well. Overtightening is just as bad as not tightening enough!

ya the bulkheads are no longer the problem its now the sump that seems to be leaking out so i drained the overflow and have a bucket under it to catch anything that remains.
joe: pm sent and i greatly appreciate it.
