plumbing leak ???help

well got 150 drilled got bulkheads in every thing good except where i screwed the male into the bulk head what should i put on threads ? tef tape ? want to be able to take apart if need be any tips tricks ect. thanks . i used 1" bulk head screwed a 1 "male schedule 40 into it then a small peice of 1"schedule 40 pipe into a elbow then another pipe then put a ball valve every thing held water but where i screwed male into bulkhead

This can be tricky because the male schedule 40 is a pipe thread (tapered) and the bulkhead has straight threads. If you don't have a fitting with the correct threads, I would silicone it in place and plan to use some other joint to take apart if necessary.

If it is a male adapter screwed into a female thd. part of the bulkhead...I would use Teflon tape. Do not overtighten! HTH
