Plumbing leaks

Many of the black ABS threaded bulkheads seem to have looser threads than regular PVC fittings. Consequently, to get them to seal you have to use more thread sealant (or Teflon tape). If using tape, you have to be very careful not to split the bulkhead. Personally, I much prefer slip/weld bulkheads for precisely this reason.

Also, do yourself a favor and put unions right below each bulkhead so you can remove them easily.

I used tape on all the threaded fittings. The two drain lines however don't leak. I think when I tear it out and redo it I'll be using paste.

I used paste on my most recent build. I feel it worked much better than the tape used on my other tanks.

The one threaded fitting I used was also the bulkhead and this also leaked. On my build after that one, I used slip fittings everywhere and no leaks. Threaded almost always leak. They are just not worth the hassle. I also managed to split one of those threaded bulkheads trying to stop the leak and had to replace it. Proceed with caution if you plan on keeping the threaded connectors! Paste works a lot better than tape btw.
