Plumbing question????

Im finishing up plumbing my return lines and i have one more question.

Should I suspend my mag 12 (from the plumbing) slightly above the bottom of the sump to avoid any noise from pump vibration?

It came with a small piece of foam to help with this, but is the adhesive reef safe? wont it dissolve over time?

I would not. If your worried then I would find another way to support it, but a pump hanging would worry me more than a little noise.

Use the foam that came with the unit.

I'm sure the adhesive is reef safe but if it were to dissolve in your sump and the foam were to float away from the pump then your pump would more or less be suspended anyway.:D

Thanks! Almost done. I just came up for a little break. I should have it running tomorrow. Let the pvc cement cure overnight.

I have a mag 12 on my tank in the living room and it sure made some noise. i eliminated the problem by adding flexible tubing from and to te pump. Just the black rubber stuff. Then I put some foam all around it to buffle the nise. Mine is sitting outside the water ....

Good luck

I have the Mag 12 as well. My was in the sump when it was running. I never heard it make any noise. But I used the foam/rubber pad. It has been running the wifes freshwater since the power outage in our dinning room and I never heard the pump other than when the sump was low on water. But I wouldn't suspened.
