Pods: where to get online?

I've got a 55g running with an Aqueon sump/refuge. I got a handful of green cheato in it with some LR rubble.

I just got a blue wrasse, and was told they love live food. Any thoughts if I should buy a big bag of pods online, just add more cheato to the refuge, or something else?

I saw "Marc Weiss Reef Bugs" gets good reviews. Not sure exactly what it is, but I'm cool gambling $20 if people think it won't hurt, etc.

Thanks in advance...

you can buy from these 2 sites. They both offer Buy 1200 get 1200 free.. mostly amphipods. you have to wait to get that deal from getyourpods. For reefs2go, you can also add on a $20 refugium package to get more pods and free shipping.

WARNING: reefs2go have a pretty bad reputation for fish and corals.. but pods are ok. I order all the time and pods are hardy.

A somewhat local store to me has the Algaegen brand pods in their store. They said they get them every two weeks. It looks like the containers they had contained a small piece of Cheato and had expiration dates on them.

Algaebarn is the way to go. You can even go through Amazon. Please stay away from Reefs2go, they are a terrible company.

I've ordered from reefs2go for pods in the past...need to wait till they have the by 1000 get a 1000 offer though and free shipping. they come with alot of amorp and copes...can't say anything about their fish or corals though, buy those locally to avoid shipping

I'll also be checking out these other places as well

I like their deal for 1/2 gallon. I went to order but noticed the free 3day shipping.. is it smart to use that shipping.. could the pops survive that?

I had a shipment delayed on my pods and took them almost 5 days to get to me. extremely minimum die off if any

I've had multiple purchases from r2g -- coral, invert, fish, pods. more DOA than I expected but they made it right financially. Also purchased from aquabarn. pods were tiny, r2g much bigger and visible.

You don't have to buy it. If you want - sure go ahead your fish will love it. But most likely you have some pods in your tank already. It's just impossible to not having them. They'll be seeded through any life rock or coral frag. If you want to increase their population you have to feed them with fine algae. As with anything wet - take some precautions I got Ich one time with pods shipment (confirmed!). So reasonable QT for three days (for none fish shipments) will help with that.

Reef cleaners is where I buy mine. Reef cleaners is a great site for cuc, mangroves, and pods, they sell macro algae too but I've never purchased any of it

I just got my box from algae barn this morning. Wow, it was really excellent. I just felt I had to leave them a review because I was really nervous about ordering pods online. They shipped on Wednesday and I figured I would not get them till Monday with a lot of die off. But no, they arrived on a friday and you can see the nice bags teaming with life. It's really impressive.

It feels good when a company actually delivers on their promise.

Cheers,
