Here is a little update, well more in the line of hardware

I bought 2 BRS jumbo filters (carbon & gfo), that will be used to help improve water quality. I currently do not use either, but with the load of fish that will be added in the near future, I feel it will be a nice addition.

I also had a 100amp sub panel installed in my fishroom to get all tank related circuts out of my main panel.

I also installed a Generac 27kw whole house generator, transfer switch, and a 1,000 gallon in ground propane tank to protect my up and coming fish/coral purchases......

Other than that, coral in my grow out tank are doing well. I can't wait to get the larger ones into my display once it it set up.

WOW, Jim..your 'top secret' coral project is doing great! I may have to bring over some frags to let you babysit!

I tried to read the plans on the delivery sticker from Marineland, but can't make out the measurements on there. What are the dimensions of the overflow? Did they use glass inside the overflow or is it all acrylic? Have you carefully inspected the silicone job on the overflow?

Prop-frags,
when I first ordered, they tried to slip a two chambered acrylic overflow by me. with stock drain holes. That would never work for what I want to do. I had them make it a single chamber glass overflow that they skinned with black plastic. It has 2 bulk heads for 2" pipes, and 2 bulk heads for 1.5" pipes. Dimensions are 19"x8-21/32"x25-3/8" tall.

The silicone on the overflow looks good, it is black. The rest of the silicone on the tank is clear per my request.

OK, so this week there should be some action. I unpacked the tank, and painted the back wall black. It came out pretty nice
in the back ground you can see the size of the stand....

So, no one said life would be easy, and when my wife fully understood what was about to happen, I got threatened to within a inch of my married life. She had seen the crates and stuff in our garage, and when the contractor showed up I started to sweat. The following few posts is what we had to do to get the tank into the room where it will be set up.

It is Cherry wood stained to match other furniture in our house.

CANOPY
has a full frond door that opens, as well as both L/R sides are removable

STAND
has 2 doors on front and a removable center panel, as well as 2 doors on L/R

My fishroom that has been running since 2010 in this house is below, and the tank will be plumbed into the system during this month.

I showed my wife the picture of the hole in the wall that you brought the tank in through. She said the tank was too big, I said nope the doors are just too small!

Alfie - The pictures don't do my son any justice - he turns the place upside down all the time. Attached picture he is in another room (standing on a coffee table) :uhoh2:

BAX - thanks I will feel better when the larger pieces of coral are actually in the display tank, I can get some breathing room back in my grow out tank.

Update:
The wall has been repaired, and painted on both sides of the hole.
I have installed the under floor double 2"x10" support beams required to carry the extra weight.
This week Plumbing will begin.

I do have a question about tank level.
Tank is dead nuts level left to right, but is slightly off level front to back.
The bubble on the level is within the two marks on the level, but biased to one side.

Do any followers of this thread have any previous experience with this? I would like to leave it as is since I am currently not using shims, but worry that this could be a issue. Please give me some of your own experience input.

UPDATE:

Plumbing is going to start.
I bought (2) of the gold hybird dart/snapper pumps for closed loop, as well as a bunch of bulk head fittings.

The main system feed will be from a hammerhead pump that is in my basement fishroom that is currently running my grow-out tank that has coral that I will transfer to the main tank (someday).

Man I have to get this thing going :uhoh3:

Newbie,
It has become a time allocation issue, rather fustrating since in the past, I set up my 280 in one weekend, and then just waited painfully for the RODi to fill.

At least this time around when I am ready to fill I have a booster pump on my RODI unit for shorter fill times. That does not help me at this time though
